It took four years but I just had my patent granted so now I have both the design patent and utility patent for a faucet mounted water filter / beverage dispenser!!
Sorry I am not an insider so I can’t leave a link but you can type Somerby in the google patents search to find them.

Yes Jane It was very frustrating and still is………I applied for my patent and did a patent search and nothing like it showed up.
Months later PUR puts out that crappy pur flavors option mount which was hurried to market and cheaply made and had lots of complaints and for me trying to licensing my idea they really hurt my opportunities by making that thing that you pump a squirt of flavor into……
Mine works more like a beverage machine, the concentrate is actually mixed in a mixing reservoir with water and dispensed as reconstituted beverage such as Orange Juice or flavored water.
I am not sure if I can find someone to license it by contacting companies over the Internet so I am thinking of taking the idea to kickstarter and raise the funds to build a prototype and then take it to trade shows, we shall see how it goes…..
Thanks:)

Yes Frank I have submitted to Brita which is owned by Clorox.inc. and Presto in the past with no luck. Now with a issued patent I will try again. To submit to Clorox you have to go through evergreenip Dot com/

Ken…. just thinking out loud here… I’m sure you’ve been in contact with Brita? (seems like they would be the perfect fit)
You might also want to consider submitting it to the Presto LPS?

Andrea I sent Warren another message after I was granted a patent and he never returned it, so I guess he doesn’t want to look at it again.

Thanks Andrea I am very excited but now where to go I may need to bring on someone with more experience for funding and negotiating if I can’t get a licensing deal….We will bring it to market ourselves if we can.

Wow 4 years! I just filed a business method patent. A patent agent I spoke with said that there is a 5 year backlog on business method patents. Gonna be a long wait.

I agree Greg but I don’t know if I am a patient man now, but I never thought the patent would issue since I never heard anything so I just gave up. And when I got the word from my patent agent that it was granted I was blown away!

Very interesting and slightly disconcerting that it took that long for a smooth sailing prosecution. Well done. I’ll bet you are a much more patient man now. I think this whole inventing process could make Rip Van Winkle slightly neurotic.

Greg, It took 4 years and I never got any rejections or any office actions….All 16 claims went through and the patent is fully intact:)

I am excited about getting my patent approved because it has been granted some awesome claims. But now moving forward is my next challenge.
