Hello all.
I need a final product quality prototype, hopefully made by a manufacturer in China. I had already agreed with a Company a few weeks ago, but they just disappeared on me, and don’t reply to any requests. ((No, no advanced payment was made.))
The item is a plush toy with some simple mechanical insert.
Thanks in advance for any advice/referrals.
BTW, if you attend the baseball show in Dallas, visit boot 1612 (HD masks)

I just checked the ‘spam’ folder, and found quite a few Ali-Baba responses in there. That is a big problem with so called ‘spam’ filters.
Are you there, Wilson Li? Please write again and leave your direct e-mail address.
Thanks!

Thanks Peggy.
I understood your and your company’s role. The connection with China might also interesting. I need a working prototype with close-to final product appearance. I need to send you specs for a quotation. Pls see e-mail I sent you.
I agree about the power of networking. I have benefited from it more than once in the past.
Thanks again.

I think I might not have explained myself correctly…I work for Boyds Bears(not sure if you heard of them). I am the sample/prototype maker for the product development team. I’ll try not to be too long but here is how our company works. The product development team comes up with new concepts for each season or occasion…they hand me either a quick drawings of their ideas or explain what it is they need and I make it come to life. We as a team then tweek the product until it is what they want. The product development girls will then send off the sample and detailed descriptions of fabric selection or so forth to the factory in Shen Hua. The factory will send back their version of the sample and it will either be ok’d for production or they will try again. But I have nothing to do with that part because I am already working on the next project. Right now we are starting crunch time because China is pretty much shut down the whole month of January for the Chinese New Year, so we are pushing to get things done before then. Sorry for the confusion
EN is such a fun site and I like how there are so many helpful and kind people here with awesome ideas, some simple and some very complex!

Peggy, so Zoey is really real! Wow, she’s cute. I thought since you work for a plush manufacturer, she could be a stuffed toy. She’s just adorable! You seem to have great connections, sounds like you can help Luis find what he’s looking for. Good luck! Personally Peggy, I think you should make a toy ‘Zoey’! I want one!!! ;-)

Thanks, Peggy. I was hoping it was closer. It is over 3 hours away. When our son was much younger, we used to go a lot to Sesame Place in Langhorne, PA during summer. (I Like it better than Disney parks) Just after crossing the south border of NJ. One hour away.
I love Zoey too. We have a Rat Terrier (almost invisible in the avatar). I’ll update the avatar when the Xmas pix is taken swoon.
I’ll reply with the info by e-mail.
Thanks again

Your welcome Luis, I live in Hanover, just a few miles from Gettysburg, PA…I think that would be the closest landmark, I got your friend request.
Betsy, you are too nice! Our dog is named Zoey and she is a Shi-shon…we love her! I am truly happy for you that your dream is coming true “Go Eggies” It will be fun watching other dreams also come true as their inventions become reality in the future…one by one! Who’s next?

Peggy, your little dog almost doesn’t look real. I thought it was a stuffed animal until I took a closer look. Too cute!!

Thanks, Peggy. That sounds very interesting. I have some fairly detailed drawings/specs. However, there’s ample room for adjustments if needed.
I sent you a friend request, so we can exchange e-mail and phone info. I am in Central Jersey. What area of PA are you in?
Thanks again,
Luis

Hi Luis,
I work for a company in Pennsylvania who specializes in plush. I, being the prototype/sample maker will make the first sample and then after tweeking with the rest of product development it is sent to Shen Hua for them to match our sample. After the final okay production will begin. Our company has found that if we send a closely made sample to them with specific descriptions, then the back and forth samples can be held to a minimum, which can get extremely costly.
Shang Hai Shen Hua Import Export Co.—for only our plush line! We have been doing business with them for 10+ years with good results. I don’t know who our contact person is in Shen Hua since I don’t personally deal with them.
Hope this helps

Thanks, Chris & Mike. I’ve contacted a few from Alibaba. Most do not reply ever. Ohters don’t prototype at alll.
I thought of the ‘Sourcing Lady’. I am still thinking about her. I actually met her in person. She is like a middle woman. That might be the way to go. I’ll give her a call. Thanks.
BTW I have quoted with US based companies. The pricing is simply impossible. Crazy high.

I would check out www.alibaba.com Luis, if you have never been there before. You can do a search for manufacturers of toys and actually talk to company representatives through live chat on there to ask if they could make the prototype. Here is a search I did quickly

Thanks Paquale. That’s fine. I am not even sure this plush toy project is patentable. I am pretty persuaded it is marketable.
BTW there is indeed a patent system in China. And a Trademark system and copyright laws.
Anyone has any referrals for any prototyper in China?

I have a game board that I was going to have produced in China so I did extensive research on chinese Intellectual Property Law. I have no idea how sharp the teeth are on this beast but here are the documents http://www.novexcn.com/china_law_contents.html that I derived my information.

better hope your invention isn’t pirated and stolen! There is NO Patent protection in China. None.

All minor and major leaues aare represented.
A remindeer about prototyper. The reason I prefer Chinese, is simply because tmanufacturing would have to be in China. That way the prototype would consider alll manufacturing and manyufacturing costs issues. Please help.
