I have an idea any suggestions on developing a prototype cheaply?

What is your goal with the prototype? That will drive everything.

There are a million ways to make a prototype cheaply and you are only limited by your imagination and guided by your goals with the prototype. There are 3 types of prototypes:
- works like (to test the function)
- looks like (for product photos or display but does not work)
- looks like and works like (full on prototype)

The first 2 options are typically cheaper and can typically be made from items found around your house or at the local craft or hardware store. Wood, foam, a few screws, glue and paint can go a long way.

Hi Susan,
Can you provide any more info on what your goal is, without giving anything away?
For example, is it a one-piece plastic part, an electronic device, etc.?
Is the desired prototype a visual model, or are you looking to make a functional prototype, for example as a proof of concept?
