I like to make things:-)

I am new at inventing and learning the processes step by step.
I have completed this prototyping process, and find, I really enjoy this step.
I find myself wanting to make every idea I have, just for the sake of making it, even if I know the idea is not that great.
This past holiday weekend, I decided to make a prototype of an idea that I knew really wasn’t going to make it. I did some “homework” on it, and things just weren’t falling into place. BTW the idea was really not mine but my sister’s and I think I went ahead with it for her sake:-)
I built it, and I must say it turned out nice. I e-mailed pictures of it to a friend to see what she thought, she also thought it looked good but said there were many workarounds. I then sent it over to my mentor to get another opinion, yeah…. just as I thought, just not feeling it:-)
I have a few other ideas that I am gather materials for, I know I really should just do the homework first, LOL!!!!
Does anyone else find themselves doing this or is it just me?

Nope, it’s not just you! I’ve got ideas in various stages of development all over the place. I got to working on an prototype last night and suddenly realized it was 3:30 am – but it is looking really good and it is going to solve a major problem I’ve had for 20 years.

This is the second time I’ve had an idea that I’m not sure could be patented, copyrighted probably, but not sure about the patentability of it. Oh well, if I get it done soon, I’ll just submit it to ASOTV and let EN decide if it is protectable and how.

Sally, one of the worst things is when you do the homework and don’t find anything like your idea, then start the work to make the prototype and THEN find something similar in a back aisle of KMart for $1.99! Now I just have to decide if there are any major differences or if it is basically the same!. Bummer….

Also, my tote box of odds & ends, pieces & parts continues to fill up as I may just need that for something later……

I go through stages. Some times I’m more into the actual ideation. Then when I’m feeling that burst of creativity, I will do my prototyping.
