Prototypes

When checking affirmative for having a prototype, does it need to be a WORKING prototype, or is it acceptable for it to be a model just to show what the product would look like? Thank you!

Lovely! I walk for autism, which is an amazing experience as well. So much spirit and unity —it’s a beautiful feeling to carry with you long afterwards.

Hi Roger! Are you associated with Buddy Walk? There is a chapter here in Los Angeles…

I appreciate your support. Our message is true for anyone — always believe in what you can do, not what you can’t!

No problem Steffany, I see you work with developmentally challenged individuals and I admire that. Any help I can give is worthwhile. I think it is admirable giving an opportunity for people to live productive lives and hope it is going well.

Steffany, Depending on the purpose for the prototype. If you are submitting to EN then definitely go with whatever they require. If you are looking for marketing or investors you may be able to get by initially with a visual prototype such as a model, sculpture, drawing or 3D CAD model. If you are trying to get the product patented then I would likely want to make sure it works before spending a lot of money, and same goes for marketing and investors you want to make sure it will work as designed and as expected before sinking a lot of money into it. I think for EN either way should be fine.

Best Regards,

Shawn G.

Hey Steffany,

There are many levels of prototypes. The most common are “works like” and “looks like” prototypes… So you’re probably ok checking the box.

Hope this helps!
