Hello EN:
Forgive me if this topic has been covered already, my search results were not really helpful. I am considering a company that is outside the United States, as they are the major player in the area of this particular invention. They make specific product(s) and the waste material from one of their products can be used in mine. I needed a specific material for use in mine, and thought what better way to re-use their waste then turn it into another immensely profitable product? My hesitation at this point is from an IP standpoint. I will have to file at the least a PPA and see if they will even sign an NDA. Getting them to sign an NDA with an American and getting the presiding laws to be in my state of Colorado seem a bit dismal at best. Not all foreigners think of Americans in the best light and they can use whatever reasons they want. I simply look at them as a huge potential partner/investor in this invention with a win/win for both.
The other options of course are the Innovation Funds. Is EN able to negotiate with a foreign company on their terms? And lastly of course, the language barrier card comes into play. A lot of obstacles to overcome to achieve this, but I know it can be done.
Let me know what you would do in this case- I value your feedback and I’m stuck in that crossroad of indecision. Not exactly a place I like either!

Eric-
Thanks for the reply, I totally forgot about them, DOH! Last time I looked at them was figuring out sea crate container shipping costs overseas, duties, tariffs and all that other fun stuff. Looks like I will be working with a U.S. based arm of that compnay afterall and may not have to worry so much about the whole overseas thing from the start. The product is still conceptual in form and I’m making fully functional protoypes first before further involving any of those companies.
It’s always fun to hear the companies tell me something cannot be done…and then I pull out a slick prototype out of my bag of tricks. Cost of prototype… less than $150. The look on their faces… priceless.
Thanks again for the info, hope all is well where ever you are!

Hi Ralph, will this be a product that you can then turn into an export? If so, when dealing with foreign countries in the marketplace, we have a great asset called the International Trade Administration, which oversees the Department of Commerce, and they have offices in pretty much every country, with a U.S. counterpart there that even speaks their language and has a staff of their citizens working for us. For Colorado, try this link: exportdotgov/colorado
Maybe contact this office, and stress the point that this will be a product you will want them to help you export to that particular country and maybe they can hook you up.
