My AirTryke engine started out as a little 5hp tiller engine capable of about 2,500 rpm.

I just spent odds and ends time over a month remodeling it, lol. I just connected an rpm meter to it this evening. It now can turn 8,200 rpms. I wondered why it sounded like a mad wasp,

Now to the selling, I am going to several trade shows in 2012, some local and some national in scope and I am going to use the vehical top speed as a fun little contest, I will empty the guesses out every couple hours and find the one closest, give them a brush.

I will have the Tryke with me in/at the booth, it has turned out to be a natural conversation starter and an exceptional convention/festival “booth cruiser” stopper.

I had told too many people how fast it will go, so I fixed that.

This may not seem like marketing/selling to some. It is an amazingly cheap (400 dollar) attraction. Parents hold their 3 month old on the seat to get a picture.

Sales does not have to be expensive, think inovative.

I just made the rounds to my hardware stores to add a banner to my sign. “Great Gifts” with a little Santa hat glued on the banner. The male sales reps in the grilling section hated it. I explained, “We are selling to the ladies, getting a gift for their griller.” Then they understood.

it is a serialized 1/5 R/C prop (saftey first and always)

And, it is a low flying grillin mochine (my son calls it the mo-chine when he wants a ride)

The only time it will ever reach any real high rpm is the one time I get it’s top speed certified (for my contests), other than that I roll it off the trailer and putter over to the front door of the particular store I am repping in front of at the moment.

Darwin… do you have a wooden prop on it?

If so, did you make it yourself or is it a big R/C prop?

You mention the high RPM and I was just thinking; wooden propellers have
a tendacy to “fail” during over-rev conditions. It’s why propeller driven
airplanes with high performance (rpm) engines use a “Reduction Drive”
between the engibne shaft and prop hub.

A prop failure can/will cause LOTS of injury and even death to those who
are nearby, safety cage not withstanding.

I forgot to mention, the first question people ask me is “What is that”?, the second question is “How fas it go?”

We are labeling this campain “How fas it go?” contest.. Just for some fun, everybody knows you are there to sell, duh :)
