OK…I think inventors can begin to shop their invention again to companies and retailers, but with retailers I would suggest secondary markets first like specialized distributors, catalogs. Primary markets with big retailers still will want to sell real cheap, especially a new product to get it going.
In the “blink of an eye” the window will open back up for us inventors. I think it is best to catch it as early as you can. The consumer is mixed still, but you can only hold back the consumer for so long. The consumer is ready to spend a little now as they are not in “economic shock” anymore and frozen up. Improving overseas markets (ahead of us in recovery) will absolutely help our consumers shortly.
I see this as infomercials are giving slightly less and more expensive items will sell in certain instances. Might be my turn for an infomercial but it will do it myself. My cousin is a professional with a camera/film making/video
Also, realize a product for women and children will start selling better FIRST. Wonder if many inventors ever thought about that. Women and kids will get their “goodies” first.
I have continued to sell my product worldwide. I can see what is going on out there. Making a CAUTIOUS move now in anticipation of the near future being able to support some sales might be a good idea…..but DO NOT get taken advantage of out there! Wait longer if you have to. I turned down MANY distributors because I did not like the numbers.

Hmmm…thought this thread might bring up a conversation. I mention this matter here because I think I see a definite surge in my product exposure here and worldwide. I am just passing on this info here to my friends as quick as possible.
When corporations see the exact surge I am seeing, clearly some are as per the financial news, they become more receptive to our new ideas.
Wait too long and you will have to “get in the back of the line” and it may be long or even too long.

I definitely agree ron, this may be a great time for inventors with products. I am currently helping an individual with an exercise machine which i think will possibly be a big seller, and another customer with a safety device for an item they just had a major recall not long ago and he has a patent pending and manufacturer lined up and companies now interested, just finishing up the design process and nailing down details to get it right. I have had some ideas of my own but no time to work on them as of yet, but I think we have a fairly good bit of time here to get things going.

Yes Shawn….the window I see is not even in 2009. The holiday season will show the consumer is “still breathing”…a promising sign, and then the consumer will take a breather in winter as always, and I expect come back decently in spring.
This means the time is now to shop your ideas with manufacturers etc. They see what I do as they are watching their numbers as I am…they see the same thing. Others here may not see what I see as they don’t have “numbers” to look at.
It does take a year or more to get an idea prepared and “built” to be shelf ready. That may be perfect timing right now. Take my advice. Right now today you don’t want to be on the shelf…the competition is too brutal. This will subside some after the holidays…if there is no major event like war with Iran…then all bets are off…again.
