Suggestion to EN Web Developers:
My Idea Database is getting rather large (but I presume not as large as others).
I was thinking that the EN Web Team could integrate an Idea Management System that would allow members to organize and/or sort their Ideas by Industry, date submitted, alphabetically, Level of “G’s” achieved, etc.
Just an Idea to make our EN life more organized.
Maybe I should have just sent a note to EN about this but I figure other members could add some creative input.
Good Luck to All
:-)

Not a bad idea at all Randy. I kind of made my own database using an Excel spreadsheet. Helps me to keep track of what idea is entered where, the stage it’s at, the best result it achieved, deadline date, presentation date… I find that looking at a summary (of sorts) on a spreadsheet helps me to focus better.

Randy,
I love this idea. It would be helpful to be able to organize them. I like to go back an analyze the ideas and I’d love to be able to see them listed by idea or LPS, etc.

Great Idea. It Would be very useful.
Randy:
How does the ‘inventus interruptus’ technique work?
We all know how ‘coitus interruptus’ work…
When you are about to come with an idea…. you just ‘withdraw’ your thoughts?… :o)

Luis,
Inventus Interruptis is Latin for “Life gets in the way of Living”

I do something similar to Carol S. I think it is a great idea but asking EN to do this for us isn’t high on a list of things I would like them to do, i.e., give feedback once an idea gets a red x.

Julie, I don’t see feedback happening….ever. Some people (and I’m not thinking of anyone in particular, just people in general) would argue on this point or that point and wouldn’t be able to just let it go with a simple reason. Besides, I’d rather see EN put their time into lining up more sponsors, organizing more searches, evaluating more products…

Well, lining up sponsors was NEXT on my list of priorities. ;-)
The feedback wouldn’t have to be extensive – even just five words or so – with the agreement that we would be satisfied with that and not press the issue or defend the product in any way. “Too bulky”, “niche market”, “something similar already exists”….But, you are probably correct, it won’t happen.

I also think it is a good idea and have thought about the problem a few times. Thanks Randy for bringing it up. Given EN has support staff that tend the web site and given these same people don’t wear a second hat namely to assist the review of product submissions or sign up new LPS sponsors, I say let them work on this problem. Seems like it might be a little fun side project to do.

I agree Carol… EN would need to hire an entire team dedicated to writing individualized feedback.
Now… I could see them offering an evaluation service SPECIFICALLY for feedback following a “Red X” … but I don’t see how they could provide it for less than $50 per instance.
The Idea Database improvements, on the other hand, could be completed in a few hours of code writing, and a few weeks of bug fixes.

Yeah, Randy. Just like in John Lennon’s song ‘Beautiful Boy’: ‘Life is what happens to you when you are busy making other plans’
Not to derail your post. I think your idea to add tools to administer the dashboard is a great one.
