Was just wondering when Edison Nation plans on rolling out the contests thru Innovation Station. I had participated in some idea hunts in the past, and have always enjoyed them. It’s a great way to focus your energy. Really looking forward to that benefit of my gold membership

How about adding an email alert when your dashboard changes.

We will begin preliminary reviews prior to June 23. Expect your dashboard to start moving before June 23 :-)

Will EE be waiting till 23 Jul to start reviewing all entries, or look at them earlier?

From your Edison Nation home page, on the right, in the Your Gold Membership Benefits, click Enter Product Searches at Innovation Station. Your saved submission will be listed under current searches.

Where do I find the saved information that I inputted into the Casting Call for my invention? I had to log-out and when I returned to it I was brought back to the begining of the Invention input page instead of returning me to the save information I previously had inputted

My wife and I showed three ideas in Providence, all got turned down. Getting turned down wasn’t great, but not knowing why was REALLY frustrating. Will the Innovation Station system provide feedback why an idea is rejected? That in itself would be worth the $25!

Tim:

A copy of the terms and conditions you agreed to upon submitting your invention idea (contained in the PARTICIPANT AGREEMENT / PROGRAM CONSENT / BLANKET RELEASE) should have been attached to the confirmation email you received.

Matt
I read and agreed the term and condition yet I forget to save the text. Can you paste them here or add to FAQ

Hi Matt I am so thrilled we will get feed back. I have a question for you…. Will EE only consider products that have an immediate retailer? My idea has a massive long term potential(worldwide). However, it will need a strong marketing blitz to really overcome some social stigma with it. I would say somewhat like the “seatbelt”. At first I wouldn’t wear one along with most people I knew. Now I wouldn’t dream of not wearing one or buying a car without them. does this make sense?

We have received many submissions. As each idea makes it past one of the stages on the dashboard, that stage will turn green. If you don’t make it, that stage and all subsequent stages will turn red. Also, if you don’t make it, you will receive a little bit of feedback as well – something we haven’t been able to do at the in-person casting calls since Season 2 because of the volume that we now see in a day.

I do have a question about the dashboard. The process is clear if you have an invention and it continues thru the system to the very end. But if you get knocked out, because of whatever, somewhere along the way- how do you know you are no longer in the running? The way it looks now, you wouldn’t know that it will never continue on to the end, just that it isn’t moving down the row! And I will go ahead and ask this because I’m sure others are wondering. When you get knocked out, will you be given some sort feedback?

One thing I would have liked was to review the downloaded photos. When you download them, they don’t flash up on the screen. And when go back and review them, you can’t view the actual picture. I’m a belt and suspender kinda gal. I like to double check things.

Thanks for the tips Holly! I’m glad you found it easy to use. We spent a lot of time making sure it would be as quick and easy as possible for you guys.

Now just keep an eye on your dashboard for updates :-)

Innovation Station works great. Just a few tips.
They only take Visa or Mastercard. They want you to describe the invention in 300 words (although it will take 500), and also 300 words to describe the problem it is solving. What price you think the consumer will pay, and who the consumer is. They also ask for web sites of 3 similar type products that could be considered competition. It’s really easy to understand and use. You can keep going back and changing it as much as you like, as long as you do it before you pay. After you pay, it shows up on your dashboard when you click on Home. Way Cool!!

Hi Trisha,
Thank you for your message. That’s a great question. It is important for everybody to know that the idea database isn’t available for members or any retailer to browse at their leisure. Retailers will come to us with specific needs. They’ll sign a contract in which they agree to abide by the terms of the system (e.g., they can’t steal your idea) and then we’ll produce a search for them. These retailers have been fully-vetted and in most cases are already partners in the show, which means in addition to the legal agreement, they won’t want to harm their relationship with Everyday Edisons. As an inventor, you can submit responses to that search and rest assured that you’re protected by the agreement the retailer has signed, regardless of your IP position.

Thanks!
Matt

Cassie,
Please do not resubmit ideas from previous casting calls unless you have made significant modifications to them. The likelihood that it will make it through on a second try without any changes is not high.

On the other hand, if you have made significant modifications, go for it! We’ve had many inventors modify their inventions between cities and re-present and at least a few have been selected after changing their inventions to be easier to use or develop, appeal to a larger market, etc…

Thanks!
Matt

Hi Tim,
You can present your idea at any stage of the process – from full manufactured prototype to an idea that just came to you when you read the search.

Good luck!
Matt

I too am having a hard time accessing it. Am I missing something? And, can you resubmit the same idea from the Chicago casting show? or is it just for a new idea?

ok it’s 2 June. I’m ready and eager. Are you behind on initiating the search, or is it that I can’t figure out how to access it?

Matt I am wondering if you do not have a patent or provisional is it safe to put your ideas out into the data base? Doesn’t that just make it easier for big money guys to just copy your ideas??

On the dash board topic, if this is a product live search(vs casting call), at which stage an idea will be presented to company for select?

Thanks Holly! We wanted to make sure that our members always knew their status. We’re growing really quickly and know that we won’t be able to keep up with all of the individual emails that will come in if we don’t have a system that allows members instant access to their status.

I have another question that I will piggyback here.

My concern is whether Edison Nation does pre-qualify on ideas. I am assuming that companies who participate in product search will have access to your data base and will be able to view one idea on a page at a time. Say there is no pre-qualify and there are hundreds of pages to load, to view, just think how much time companies will have to put out to just view through those pages. Maybe they will get impenitent and skip some…

BIG group say they only accept 1%-1.3% of ideas. So I guess hundreds of ideas won’t be too far a guess unless we are talking about thousand here.

Hi Holly,
We are in the process of creating that section right now. The code will be complete in the next couple of weeks. We’re getting very close! FYI, it will likely be called “Live Product Search” – you heard it here first :-)
