Matt made a good point on another thread about (paraphrasing) not just sitting around and waiting, but to continue on learning and developing.

I thought I’d start a thread for updates/opinions/advice/help or whatever everyone needs or wants to share.

Let’s all face it, we aren’t all going to get on the show, so we need to hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

I am currently working on prototyping one of the inventions I submitted to EE. Its taking an existing product and modifying it for use in a totally unrelated way, by a different set of users. Its sort of like building Frankenstein. Its not pretty yet, but its got life.

Its a kitchen product (to be more exact, its a grilling/bbq product).

I’m running into some problems, but I see how it will address a variety of problems.

I’m willing to help anyone out that needs help or just wants to chat about their ideas. I understand the importance to keep specifics to yourself, but there may be a way to discuss broad and generalized concerns.

Hi Jason:

Thanks for bringing up the Keep On Keep’n On topic.

I love to play REO Speedwagon’s ’ Keep Pushin’ On ’ tune when I need a little encouragement, too!
… “goin’ through all the changes… I made so many mistakes…”

One thing I’ve learned from working with a design firm (they’re taking my ideas, creating the CAD drawings, and making some variations of rapid prototype parts) is that if anything can be misunderstood / misinterpreted from an email communication, it usually is.

There’s nothing like communicating in person with people helping with this project! I live in a small town a few hundred+ miles away from the design firm, and I only visit them once in a while, after they’ve worked on some of the components a bit.

All the problems aside, it is really satisfying seeing something ‘develop’ and get ‘tangible’ that was on paper only weeks before!

The whole process is like “dreams in slow motion”.
