I really hope in the future EN will interact more with submitters. For instance, it would be nice if they gave just a brief description of why an invention was stopped by the big red x; it’s really disheartening to have your seemingly great idea stopped and not know why.
We should also get a picture or video demonstration of the product when it has been through the design and engineering process; they spend so much time on them, why not take an extra 5 minutes to show us, the parents of the invention? And last but not least, we should get to buy the prototype even if it doesn’t end up going to market; this would be good for us, and reimburse Edison Nation’s designers and engineers.
Anyone agree, or have other additions of your own? Maybe we should contact EN with our requests for site improvement.

Michael the questions become How much interaction is reasonable and at what price would you be willing to pay for it. I agree that everyone wants to know WHY they got Red Xed, but this is a never ending circle. Some people have said if they had a drop down list of reasons it would be great. But how many people would be satisfied with “It is not a Mass market product”? They would want EN to explain WHY it not a mass market idea. If they give a personal answer to every rejection and told you WHY it is not in their eyes a mass market product how many Inventors would want to rebuttal this decision with their explainantion WNY EN should reconsider their decision. This would also happen if they were telling you even though you have a design patent on your product it really needed to have a utility patent to make it something worth pursuing. As you can see even if you started gving personal replies at the stage 4 level you would be arguing your case all the way through to the final level. Do you know how many emails that could be just for one search?
Look at my post on this thread started on Red X analysis http://www.edisonnation.com/forums/other/topics...
I agree not knowing is always a hardship, but you would have to draw the line somewhere or you would need a full staff just to write responses and rely to the hindreds of rebuttals they would get form every search. As I wrote in the other thread if you had 900 entries and each required 4 responses to satisfy the Inventors of their decision that is 3600 emails. Right now EN has 5 searches going on so 3600 times 5 equals 18,000 responses. How much would you be willing to pay extra to cover the cost of those responses and how many repsonses per item submitted would you deem reasonable before they have to tell you no more rebuttals and their decision stands?

Check the announcement email, scroll down. Link there.
Per Kat:
It went to all EN members in the EN Fund announcement letter. There was a link that took you to the survey.

It went to all EN members in the EN Fund announcement letter, Penster. There was a link that took you to the survey. Though I would like and will continue to think I’m that special. Forgot to put in the survey I have no idea how the private conversation in tech support works, though.

Love that Mike! Green, yellow, red – just like a stoplight!
That red X can sting a little. Maybe were it blue? lol

- I thought of another feature I think would be great for the inventions that are close, but not quite there. Instead of going from green checks right to BAM! red x marks, they should have like a week of being yellow; this will allow submitters about a week to refine their invention, upload new photos or video demonstrations, and rewrite the statements. *A simple warning that your invention needs to be updated or may soon be haulted (for that search at least).

They just sent out an email re the $25million fund that has a “Better EN Questionaire” in it. They give room for such feedback. I did the survey and suggested they shorten the stage bar. You’re an insider so should get feedback at a certain point. Anyhow, that might be one way to get your comments in…though they’re always reading the forums…duh duh duh DUHHHH! :)
