Is it advisable for a newbie like me to start internet marketing business by getting one domain name from namecheap.com and one web hosting from hostgator.com? What hosting plan should I buy to begin with? And what should I join first – reliable free drop shipping programs, free affiliate programs or whatever legitimate programs available, altogether? Please help!

GoDaddy for sure and if you have a domain name which matches the product, I would certainly tie up not only dot com but dot info and maybe some others just to protect the name. I use dot com for selling my product myself and dot info for the distributors. The dot info website is almost identical to the dot com but does not have the shopping cart or any way for the viewer to contact me – just the distributor.

As Jeff said, no comment on the rest except this: if you are new at this, I would advise that you certainly get your feet wet before comitting to any affiliate programs or buying into anything even if it says its free. If your product isn’t protected in any way, what would keep one of those programs from taking it?

On the other hand, maybe licensing it would be the way to go: would it fit into one of EN’s Live Product Searches?

1) Domain name and hosting from the same company.

2) My best and most important suggestion – no small guys, no cheap guys. You need 24/7 tech support for a hosted site.

3) Host Monster, 1and1 are big alternatives

4) Research godaddy fees and problems

I help with websites transfer at www.mkrd.info and how cheap it was is the least of concerns if you have to transfer a site at night and noone answers the tech support.

Another suggestion – several domain names and buy them same day that you search for them. Be careful where you research the domain names. Hint: someone can buy it before you do if they see the demand.

Definately buy it soon after u search to see if it’s available, I checked to see if “When It Rains It Pours.com” was available for my roofing company… and it was for 10 bucks then when I went back to buy it a few weeks later a giant domain name company had already bought it and told me they would sell it to me for 5000 dollars… I said keep it a**holes!
