Lots of inspiration here: This is a group for graphic designers to get together and discuss projects, both inspirational and simply awful, show off portfolios, talk about jobs in the graphics industry, etc. http://groups.myspace.com/graphicdesign |

What kind of prices would you folks expect to see for a simple website to sell a product? |

“Getting Real,” a book by 37signals, contains excellent design insights. Additionally, it’s a book about their no-nonsense approach to business and software. Available online for free at http://gettingreal.37signals.com/toc.php |

I just downloaded a bunch of free pdfs from this site: www.sitesell.com/. I’m not recommending them yet, but they look legit, caveat emptor. |

I posted earlier, but I’m becoming an evangelist: Concrete5 will be the NEXT BIG THING in web sites. Anybody who works in this business knows that content management systems (CMSs) are how a site of any size at all is built these days. They also know what a PITA Joomla, Drupal, et.al are to work with. Concrete5 changes all that, with an interface that feels more like a desktop app. If you want a web site, hire a designer to set up a domain, set up the database, and make you a graphic header using the template you want, and then YOU CAN DO ALL THE REST YOURSELF! http://www.concrete5.org |

Bradley (activa) hit the nail on the head. CMS is the way to go now days; wordpress is becoming the standard. I have about 15 sites on my own network that run wordpress. They are collaborative content build ups using a variety of authors and contributors. Easy to moderate, tweak and change. |
