Ball Horticultural Company is a leader in all facets of floriculture. It breeds and distributes plants to growers, retailers, landscapers and nurseries who supply its products to gardeners throughout the world.

For this challenge, Ball Horticultural Company (Ball) is looking for new environmentally friendly products that make gardening easier, save time and ultimately help the gardener to be more successful.

Trusted and established within the industry, Ball has been selling seed, starter plants and production supplies to wholesale and retail growers for more than 100 years. The company’s consumer plant brands include Wave® Petunias and Burpee Home Gardens®.

Things to consider:
Gardening is a labor of love for some, but considered hard work by others. Ball’s consumer research reveals that non-gardeners cite lack of time as the number one reason they don’t garden. Their goal is to broaden the appeal and enhance the satisfaction and rewards of gardening for all. Ball seeks imaginative and innovation-driven products that will reduce the time and effort associated with gardening preparation and maintenance, and that enhance the result of ornamental or vegetable gardening activities.

While the industry’s products bring beauty to the world and soothe the soul, Ball believes it could be doing a much better job of growing them in environmentally and socially responsible ways. Producing sustainable, eco-friendly products is a high priority and will be taken into consideration for this search.
