Recognized for its catchy jingle and signature marketing slogan, “O-Cedar makes your life easier,” O-Cedar has been on a mission for more than 100 years to make household cleaning easier for you. O-Cedar was the first company to produce an oil-treated dust mop, to market the squeeze-action sponge mop, and to introduce the angle broom, now the standard for plastic brooms in the U.S.
Today, O-Cedar still strives to be “the first” in its category and has partnered with Edison Nation to discover new floor care cleaning product ideas. O-Cedar is interested in general floor care ideas and mop and broom innovations which: modernize cleaning, work better and/or easier than products currently on the market and that provide solutions not already thought of by one of its competitors.
As the most preferred brand of mops and brooms in the nation, O-Cedar is seeking innovative cleaning solutions that align with its commitment to offering consumers competitively priced, hard-working products with value-added features that make cleaning easier, more effective and more convenient. As a leader in household cleaning products, O-Cedar is only interested in product ideas for the home, rather than commercial or professional janitorial solutions.
For this search, consider recent trends in household products, such as the increased use of materials which promote sanitation; the onslaught of “quick clean” or disposable cleaning tools which offer ease of use and convenience; as well as pet-care positioned household cleaning tools.
Reward
Selected ideas will receive a $2,500 minimum advance on 20 years percentage of sales or buyout. We split the royalties 50/50 with you on the products that we select. Royalties vary based upon the product but we always earn industry-leading rates.
Requirements
While not required, we highly encourage you to submit video of yourself demonstrating a prototype and explaining the features and benefits of your submission. Please be as detailed as possible in telling us about your innovation.
For this search, your innovative mop and broom product concepts must:
- Be patentable
- Appeal to O-Cedar’s primary consumers (women age 25-54, especially young mothers and pet owners)
- Provide a low-to-mid-range priced solution which makes consumers’ lives better
- Appeal to the end user’s desire for time-saving convenience and effectiveness to get the job done.
- Offer alternatives to competing brands’ current product solutions
- Be intended for home use (not commercial)
