Description
With spring training season in full swing, baseball is top-of-mind for players and fans alike of America’s favorite pastime. Since introducing the first pocketed baseball glove in 1920, Rawlings has become synonymous with the institution of American baseball itself. As the Official Baseball and Helmet supplier of Major League Baseball and official baseball and softball of the national High School Federation, Rawlings plays a leading role in manufacturing high-quality sporting goods equipment within baseball and beyond.
Rawlings has partnered with Edison Nation to consider your innovative ideas for baseball and fast-pitch softball training products. Rawlings is particularly interested in innovations for its “5-Tool Training” product line designed to improve and help each player to maximize their potential on-field performance within:
- Fielding
- Throwing
- Hitting for average
- Hitting for power
- Speed
Note: Within the 5-Tool category, there is a particular need for new pitching machine concepts.
Within the sporting goods industry, demand for baseball and fast-pitch softball training products continues to grow as children are increasingly specializing in sports at earlier ages. And while baseball accounts for the majority of the training products market, there is potential to “own” the fast-pitch softball arena with a few key products and marketing attention.
Reward
Selected ideas will receive a $2,500 minimum advance on 20 years percentage of sales or buyout. We split the royalties 50/50 with you on the products that we select. Royalties vary based upon the product but we always earn industry-leading rates.
Requirements
Your submissions for training products should:
- Fall within one of Rawlings’ 5-Tool categories (fielding, throwing, hitting for average, hitting for power or speed)
- Appeal to its primary audience of junior and high school athletes and their parents
- Enable athletes to reach their full potential and peak performance
- Be competitively priced and fall within existing manufacturing capabilities (Price can vary tremendously within the category, depending on the product; however, training products are generally price-sensitive )
- Have mass-market appeal
As always, your submission must be unique and protectable. Rawlings primary concern is that the concept not infringe on existing patents.
While not required, we highly encourage you to submit video of yourself demonstrating a prototype and explaining the features and benefits of your submission. Please be as detailed as possible in telling us about your innovation.
