Background

October 03, 2008

I’ve been busy today.I live in northern Ireland with my wife,Mary,and our two adult[so they think]children-though that’s a contradiction,rightaway.

I didn’t straighten out as an adult ’til I discovered I was an inventor-that was tough, and then I got worse.

Well, marriage and kids, jeez it’s tough work, bouldered me towards the straight and narrow. Now that’s a steep learning curve, with a lot of geurilla warfare going on.

I thought of some house names as a result of this, which my wife didn’t like:the Alamo,Mexican stand-off,Who Switched The Lights Off,You’re For It etc.It is quit distasteful now that I think about it.

Northern Ireland[I hope that doesn’t put anybody off, really] has about 40 shades of green, even more shades of grey, and about 8 feet of rain a year.

It’s very good for people, the people are crazy, interesting, unbelievably f…… thick.300 years ago is even more recent than today.

It is the tight social groupings aka communities that produces these amazing people.

We have a run-down shop near us,the size of a garden shed, well, twice the size of a garden shed, and it’s run by three graduate brothers. You can go out to the shops for a quick message and disappear for hours in conversation with people in the shops and the streets. Not all the time. All sense of purpose is lost.

One of the gaduate brothers,a civil engineer, loves to talk about your mate,W.Bush.You’d think Bush was letting a hedge grow too tall along his garden boundary, and he likes to rope Mary,my wife-who has no interest, into lengthy conversation.

But Mary has quite developed social skills and tells him to f… off.

My son is a graduate Marine Biologist and has just spent 5 months in Australia, which he loved, cleaning hostels and hotel rooms and tavelling around with his girlfriend, who cant tie her shoelaces.

My daughters is a graduate nurse in the making. She is tyrannised by her mobile phone, and her friends, whose lives always seemto be on the verge of total gut-wrenching disaster. We tell her to keep out of it,but there is no escape from the mobile phone virus.

I’m enjoying and learning from the edisonnation forum, but I dont know what the hell’s going on half the time with green lights and submissions and product searches.

The demands and impacts of social protocols are quite hairy with my paranoia sloshing around the margins, which is self-explanatory and worth it.Anyway,I am moving on.
