Mike and Dave grew up together in the same neighborhood in Acton, MA. We have been friends since the early 1980’s when we were frequently found exploring in the woods behind our homes. On one such adventure, we discovered a large pine tree which we named “The Big Pine.”

We have always kicked novel ideas back and forth, but never took the next step until a few months ago when we decided to form our own LLC (while keeping our day jobs). Given that we climbed the Big Pine hundreds of times over the course of many years, we thought “Big Pine Innovations” would be a very fitting name. A light bulb within the tree became our logo and “Growing Ideas” became our motto.

While we have brainstormed several ideas, the invention we are most excited about is the Protect-Door, a patent pending mechanism used to reduce the incidence of door related injuries. When we heard about the Everyday Edison online casting call, we thought this would be a perfect forum in which to execute on our motto.
