Conserve energy w/ old casement windows.
June 19, 2009
Old casement windows are everywhere. Recycle these jewels by glueing stained glass pieces, leaving enough room for the grout. Grout is available in all colors. Wall grout is best, but floor grout will do.Pour a liquid fiberglass resin to backside to prevent breakage. Prop finished product into window sill,. Afix with pin nails....VOILA...this will reduce energy consumpton year round. The window in the photo shows the fininsed product. It was an old china cabinet glass door. This reduces ambiant noise level too. This china door just happened to fit exactly in my living room window. Most the frames are indoor / outdoor, hardwood. Looks OK from outside too. Illuminate with rope lighting or florensent lighting. You can design anything you like. It's mosiac, an ancient technique used by Greeks, Romans and Middle East too.
