^ The article suggests that this is because “Americans don’t read manuals”. I would suggest that it’s because gadgets are generally poorly designed.

They have way to many features poorly implemented, rather than the most important features well implemented.

They have bad “design semantics”, which basically means they are hard to understand how to use.

This is a problem that design can solve.
