Artist Statement

I have,for as long as I can remember been attracted to anything unique or unusual...obsessively collecting all sorts of scraps,objects and materials of nearly any description that I found aesthetically pleasing in some way yet commonly had little or no practical use or value. It was less than ideal to have all these things lying around and crammed into boxes so I began to fabricate and assemble them into artistic objects that could be displayed and enjoyed in my home. I discovered in the process that the sculptures served other purposes as well. They became a way to express my feelings and opinions,they provide me with humor,self reflection,therapy and the pride of accomplishment that comes with creating something of beauty. Having been a craftsman in several different trades,I often work with materials familiar to me,wood,metal,stone etc.and enjoy the challenge of combining various materials to obtain a finished piece.
