Oy! Prototypes!
July 11, 2009
As the deadline for the Walmart LPS nears, I find myself out of time to get a real prototype maker. I have to do it myself. I am open to the materials I can use, and just like when creating a Halloween costume, I love walking up and down the aisles of a store in search of things to repurpose.
I have now been up and down every aisle in Hobby Lobby (twice), Michael’s, Walmart, Home Depot and Deals in search of a sheet of plastic or thin metal. Something that can bend, is sturdy, and lightweight. Oh yeah, and something I can cut with my limited set of tools – an exacto knife and a utility knife. And I bought myself a hot glue gun.
I’m also looking for things that are the basic shape that I can modify. Again, using my cavewoman tools.
The most annoying thing is, I know I’m reinventing the wheel. I know the basic shape is something in existence, and making it is a no-brainer, for anyone who makes things. Which I don’t.
I was wishing I could just push a print button on my head and the thing would come out.
And now, because I’m annoyed with it, instead of taking the materials I bought and working on them, I’m blogging. Waste of time!
