Creative leadership

Recently I was thrust into a leadership role for a team who is looking for creative ways to redefine their roles a leaders. They are in positions of CEO, Tech Consultant, Engineering management, Financial Advising. It is a diverse group and I'm expected to come up with some unique ways for us all to look at leadership. We are exploring leadership in work as well as family and community. What are your thoughts on leadership and what makes an effective and successful leader. What experiences have made you a better leader?
