James, unfortunately a perpetual motion device can not be patented in the United States. This probably limits it’s commercial capabilities but keep in mind many or most products on store shelves nowadays do not have a patent on them. It’s very competitive to get a new product on a stores shelf space so one must really evaluate how big of a market there is for such a product. For example I have read many times a major big box store such as Walmart, target, Lowe’s, etc. will not even consider selling a product if it is not expected to sell at least 3-5 units a week at each store. Best of luck James.
