Contacting a "Shark"

petercampbell01's Avatar

Does anyone have a contact for Daymond John, and do you know if he/his team would review a business plan and product (remotely) to be considered for investing/partnering? If yes, please private message me. I am seeking a partner that has enough clout to get a product licensed with MLB (to start).

I know part of the investor's consideration is meeting the inventors and having confidence in the business partner, his/her work ethic, business acumen, decision making etc. I just figured I'd ask the EN community...

They all have their price. Daymond John's team contacts me when they have an opening... It is not a preferential thing. It costs $4500-$6000 to have dinner with him... and he chooses the location! No Cracker Barrel meeting I am sure. It is pretty easy to get on the list. Once you contact him you will be asked to complete a "Deep Dive" Questionnaire. It is a mini business plan. It will tell you that Daymond will probably not invest in your company. This is an opportunity to discuss manufacturing or whatever else he can help you with.

I am flying to L.A. to meet Bethany Frankel in November. She is the newest Shark on this season. Sharks are not hard to get in front of... just expensive.

James,

Where did you learn / schedule a meeting with Daymond?  His own information says that his meetings are not to pitch ideas or businesses for investment, but moreover to provide services for entrepreneurs. There's nothing mentioned about scheduling a one on one meeting to pitch a business. Do you have more information about this that you could send to me?

Thanks,

Peter

Roger,

The regional focus is proof of concept on the business even though I have international intentions. Getting on a Shark's radar is to get their attention before you need them.

What I mean by that is they get pitched all the time, "I have the next billion dollar widget, will you invest?"

If I were able to talk to a shark I would ask about tactical things that would make sure my regional launch hit on the parameters that appeal to them most. The most important questions are: "What should I accomplish before I follow up with you?", "When should I contact you?", "How do you prefer I contact you?"

I would set those parameters as goals and fight my hardest to achieve them. Later, I would have all the things they are looking for to make the decision easy and without question. It is called "Future Pacing".

Roger,

Ha!

I would not expect that anything that I do would make sense to you Roger.

I know that I prospect for a living and I know that the majority of appointments made are on the follow up. Sometimes though, things change for the shark. What if you pitched to the shark and then start doing what you say you were going to do. How awesome would it be to have a set of goals that were prescribed by a shark? What if you knew for a fact that you are measuring what they want you to measure? What if you followed up at exactly the right time that the shark was expecting you to? What if the shark had something come up in the mean time that he could tap you for?

It is all about future pacing opportunity... What is the law of reciprocity?

See finding opportunity is what I am all about... Creating opportunity is what I specialize in.

This is my world of common sense and it makes no sense to you... why?

It is surprto me that someone would like pay for a meeting like that.

I have met with venture capital , and angel investors  who were meeting with me for a pitch. In my opinion these people appreciate someone who hustles and networks to get a meeting

I am familiar with game changers and it always seemed to me to be an advisory or consulting type of thing. Anyway, I am sure you will gain  from that meeting but not sure it for everyone

yeah, I agree. I haven't ponied up the money yet.  I don't know the true value. I have formulated a set of questions to optimize the time.

I wouldn't discourage anybody from doing it so long as they had a measurable plan of action and could afford it without going into debt.

I did not promote it. The original question was "how do I?"

I've been there asking the same question, I shared the information. I don't want anybody to chase after me or be impressed.

Roger, Is that why you post what you post? "To have people chase you? To impress them?"

Those are your words and your motivation, not mine. I don't even see the connection, it makes no sense to me to impress anybody in the forums as it does to you. Seems you are getting tired again and projecting. Just my opinion.

I am not offended at all.

If I was trying to impress anybody I would be talking about other things. This is just sharing information until you assign a psychological profile to other people. If you offend me where is the ownership. The person offended or the offender?

They do contact me, I shared the email. I am not promoting anything just that they contact me. I am meeting with Bethany Frankle in November. Not promoting anything... Just a fact. Yes, I pay for opportunity if the numbers seem to make sense. But I am in a position to do that. Do you feel that is wrong?

Again, you are assigning me the offended status when I am not. I am against psycho tagging judgmental bullies. If you psycho tag me with a label, I will speak against it. Talk shop and not about each other personally and there are no problems.

Gentlemen,

Again, this is a kind reminder that we need to keep the thread on topic and respectful. No personal accusations will be tolerated.

If you have personal differences or issues with one another, this is not the place to air those issues. Please take those offline.

We live in a world where there are differences in opinion, and that should be respected, not accusatory. Please keep this topic on target and informative to our community, which is the goal of these forums.

Thank you.
