David … the forum rules are just above this thread in a sticky…. you might have broken one of the rules. I didn’t see your post! If I read the rules correctly a team of moderators police the forums and delete when they feel a rule has been broken. No one knows who the moderators are….. top secret stuff!!!

Three moderators are at the doctor for memory tests and to see how good they are at paying attention to detail.
The doctor says to the first moderator , “What is three times three?”
“274,” was his reply.
The doctor says to the second moderator, “It’s your turn. What is three times three?”
“Tuesday,” replies the second moderator.
The doctor says to the third moderator, “Okay, your turn. What’s three times three?”
“Nine,” says the third moderator.
“That’s great!” says the doctor. “How did you get that?”
“Simple,” says the third moderator. “I subtracted 274 from Tuesday.”

That should explain it…. LOL

Fitters are used to cheap crap plastic parts I do no make cheap crap and hope I am never going to. People pay 1000s for new kitchens and expect them to stand the test of time company’s have to guarantee the kitchen and fit .
It’s cheaper to do a good job than pay fitters to revisit . Better to be penny wise than pound stupid in my book .

Just stumbled on some great advice that is applicable to this discussion. It comes from Margie Blanchard, wife and partner of legendary self improvement coach Ken Blanchard.

She shared her perspective after she and Ken lost their beloved home in a San Diego fire. She said, “Everything I had held onto I lost, and everything I ever gave away I still had.” Hmm. Think about that.

So, here are twelve behaviors just about every leader wants more of and twelve simple way to get them.

1. Want enthusiasm? Give it.
2. Want change? Become the change.
3. Want forgiveness? Give it.
4. Want more autonomy? Give it.
5. Want to be heard? Lend an ear.
6. Want recognition? Give it.
7. Want respect? Show it.
8. Want consideration? Give it.
9. Want help? Offer yours.
10. Want gratitude? Express it.
11. Want leadership? Be the leader.
12. Want more? Give more.

It amazes me how much a small e-mail can open doors . I sent a casual email to a big shed in the uk and this was to a guy I worked with about two years ago . He gave me a nice reply saying he had changed rolls in the company and would forward my details to the new relevant person . I got a very quick response from the new contact and he wanted to speak with me as he was traveling this morning to a trade show. We had a real good chat and I told him about my new company and latest product idea . The then told me he wanted to find away to get my products on board. He also was interested in my shop fitting roll and suggested we had a meeting . This could be a very interesting meeting that could bring work for both my company’s if I can play my cards right . All from a little polite e-mail.

Also went to the uk (kbb show) right up my street I managed to show some of my products to some interesting company’s . Kbb is (kitchen, bedroom ,bathroom exhibition ) I wish I had a stand at this show .My products would of been a no brain’er to the kitchen product tec guys.

I hope to Kathleen just juggling with the day job. It’s not easy for both of us we need to build a real good team around us and create a solid platform to build on . Taking my suits to be dry cleaned today got to start setting my stall out for the buyers and first impressions count . Funny how some people are so tunnelled visioned and so easily won over by how someone looks . I am not that easily impress by flash cars and bling I look at the person not their projection . The two can be so different.
My posts are designed to inspire confidence for others and are factual events .

Hi Archie
It’s a fine balance how much I say as it an open record for the word to see . But it may pay me back in time . I had a uk inventor e-mail me about getting his product into big sheds and could I help shed some light on the subject . I was happy yo call this guy and we will meet up next week lucky he is not too far from me . Maybe I can help him I know he is fully protected and that’s good . I think it’s a good thing that small inventors can help each other we can cover mor ground if we network . I also intend to try and create a co op thing if posable maybe I can pull a collection of products together to make a kit. Now that could help a number of people at once. You guys know I cannot sit still I intend to grow and hopefully make 2014 a good year .
Thanks again Archie
I have to get back to package/product artwork . .

Just a little update on what I am up to . Still spinning a lot of plates two moulds ready first orders gone mould in transit from china by boat and another should be ready soon for first trial samples they will be sent by air freight and the tool will be too got PO already for this one .
Been showing new products this weekend and I got some weary good response basically when can we get them . Australia wants product and cannot wait for new box to arrive . I am networking for fun on LinkedIn and when I get all the products and packaging complete and tested I am going to approach Medea to hopefully promote Yorkshire innovation and made in the uk . I have to say I think it’s the last time I make tools off shore I do not like the extra shipping time and this causes problems when the do not stick to manufacturing programs.
I understand all tools are a one off and respect the complex nature in making one . Never mind better late than never . I really hope I can make up some headway this year and also wish you guys some positive vibes too.
Before I get too bogged down again let me wish all EN,ers a happy Easter a am looking forward to a little chill out time with Sharon .

Came home to two nice surprises . Got my first PO for the new PMG and looking forward to seeing the mould in action it will be good to finally give the customers the product they have been patiently waiting for . Also just got the new colour booklet for my fixing products this is stunning and all involved have excelled for me . Like a coiled spring just one more mould to be flown in from china just waiting for air freight price . Manufactures have got a production slot ready this mould has I have a PO in place and a delivery date . It’s scary and hope they all get the timing wright . I after say after commissioning four new moulds three of which was made in china I do wish I had made all the tools in the Uk and I will try my best to make any new tools here in the Uk . I also have been invited to a big UK shed called B&Q this could be real interesting as they know my products and have sold a few million of my old versions . After a real rough time I am hopping to give some real competition to the people that have forced me to build my new company . God loves a trier they say. Happy Easter En ers.

Thanks as always for the response . The booklet will be inserted with every packet of fixing products I sell and can be displayed on the counter looks so good you just want to pick it up .
This can grow in pages as I develop new products . I have to say get your sell sheet right and you just after look at their faces and see the lights turn on . It’s nice to get that instant approval that you have done a good job . I will after sow a lot of seeds as you guys should know its a numbers game . As soon as I am fully ready with all products fully packaged then website go’s live . I sell more products direct to the manufactures and big sheds than small online company’s . This may look like I am not selling on the internet but behind curtain the reel numbers are being done . Got to make some plans to show the distributors the new products . They have the ability to place big PO and less paperwork an my end . Just got on the system of an international company called Hafele my first PO for the new PMG . I hope they take my new fixings too fingers crossed.

Sorry I am not posting much on the forum I am multi tasking allot . Just a quick update on my little adventure of bringing products to the market .All tools in the uk now and a strange coincidence is that this Tuesday I will see my new PMG mould in action as it makes the first production run and across the pond in Las Vegas my US partner is showing the new US version at the hardware show . Very spooky and not planed . I have also set up a meeting with one of the biggest kitchen and joinery company’s to show off my new products , backed up with all the new packaging etc it’s a real easy task . I have shown family and friends and they are very excited for me . Nothing is in the bag and I will have to set my stall out right it’s going to be a busy time ahead and need to be proactive . New website will be going live soon to sell direct and got an E-Bay account setup. I am also trying to help a fellow joiner/ product designer to bring his new product to market . I have been given samples to test and the product worked well
I will give him his first PO and I will promote the product as much as I can to the buyers I meet . His biggest challenge is the big company’s do not want to set up I product company’s so they try and link them with distributors that are on thier books. If I manage to get set up as a supplier this could be a way into the big company’s for him . I have told home not to put all his eggs in one basket and he must build his own customer base as well .
Let’s see what I have managed to achieve at the end of this month .

Best wishes to all trying to bring thier products to life and the ones trying like me to make it happen the old fashion way with true grit and will power.
(Not for the faint harted )

Hi Charlie
Got you message the PMG when to into production yesterday after a small delay . I was thier at the birth of the first production run and I videoed the robot arm taking the product from the mould on full auto mode . Very exciting to me and I helped a little in the assembly area to adjust an assembly jig. Did my big pitch today and I could not of been any better prepared it’s just in the hands of the marketing teem now .This is the tip of the iceberg as I will not wait for thier answer I have to push forward with other suppliers and first come first served . I have to say I got very positive feedback on my new packaging thanks again to the marketing team behind me. Looking forward to posting my product to you as soon as I get my sample order delivered .

I am ready to take my ground back from those that have taken advantage of my good will and good nature . This is going to be a real interesting time David against Goliath. I know I have a big challenge now but I have the passion and the original right team behind me to take them on . You should never judge a book by its cover I have set out my stall all I now want is the big sheds to show integrity and do the right thing back the originator and product inventor . This will lead them back on the path of trust and that will path the way for future innovations that all can benefit from . Buying stolen goods feeds thieves so saying no to stolen goods takes away their market . I am the originator of all my products and I have worked very hard to design, create artwork and demo props ,cgi and names for my products . I stand for the little inventor and I am the little inventor . So watch my battle on line .
Best regards to all Thank you all it’s been a very hard slog to make this all happen . One day I want to wright a book on my experiences bringing products to the market and all the learning ups and downs that go with it. This will open a lot of eyes and hopefully some people will benefit from my experiences.
Best regards to all Edison Nation

Sold some on e-bay for a quick test all very positive and happy customer feedback I could not be happier with the feed back .I know I will have watchers in the back ground . I also have another interesting company that has been looking at my product over the years come to me I cannot say any more as the e-mail started with the words confidential . All interesting stuff. Every thing moving at the pace I want I do not want to grow fast . And I am I little wiser now . Had a meeting with a government organisation that will give me some real help in growing my new company and the were very impress with the amount I have managed to achieve in Sharon tells me six months . So it can be done just got to dig deep and push forward . Still not out of the woods yet but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Got some ip news today if I can get it granted it will sink a battle ship. I will look forward to seeing how my patent attorney gets on . Good thing is that new company’s are picking up on the new PMG and this is pastures new . I came only wonder what goes round buyers heads but it’s a no brain’er to me cannot imagine I would be in a job if I turned away that sort of profit on one item.

Well Frank that was a very interesting morning at the London IP office just behind the Houses of Parliament building . I was lucky I am fitting out a new store only 4 1/2 miles away so no big trip down from Yorkshire . This was a video conference hearing and I was sat with my with my trade mark solicitor and In front was my lady barrister . I was their just as a spectator I wanted to see with my own eyes how this procedure worked and hear the arguments from the other sides barrister . I have to say it was all a bit overwhelming to a simple guy like me it went on for about 3 1/2 hours and I have to say I was very happy with the efforts my barrister did on my behalf . So sad she could not cross examine I think they would of been dissected on the spot . Now I have to wait up to eight weeks for a judgment and some one will be right and someone has to be wrong . Now it’s up to the IP officer to dig deep and find out the truth warts and all. This will all be made public record for the world to see . I have no problem with this as I have a very clear conscience. Lets hope that the IP officer realises the injustice that has happened here . I am prepared for the worst that I do not win but they can never be prepared for what is coming next . All in the life of a little Yorkshire inventor . You guys are sheltered from this sort of mess being under the EN umbrella .

I am working on an optional rubber pad for shiny smooth surfaces not many requests for none slip pads but I think it would be a good optional extra as are the cork pads for holding glass . On this side of the pond I am trying to help a fellow carpenter bring a product to market he as developed a new heat activated double sided tape to bond laminate edging to std kitchen worktops . He is getting very positive feed back from end users but finding it hard to get the big shed buyers on board . It’s a great product I gave him his first real PO for 100 rolls just to start the ball rolling . I am hooked and have presented it to a number of my contacts . Feed back is they like it but every thing takes time . This is the hard bit for new people with no idea about how big company’s work and they have lots of red tape to get through to make something happen . Small company’s can move faster less departments more speed . I hope I can get him a decent bit .

So when I want to make something brand new it’s not as time consuming to get results. I am very hooked with the product development thing now and I do not see me ever going back .
You still cannot forget the power of pen and paper to get the creative ball rolling as a basic sketch can stimulate and aid the cad build .

I was going to ask the other day, if EN would accept a smaller scaled version of an idea in place of an actual prototype…it would be like those old ’Salesman’s Samples’ they used to travel around door to door with. Because I have an idea that I think would be much easier to make a scaled down version of, than to try to draw in detail or make an actual sized prototype.

Kathleen,

Can’t say for sure but I believe EN only accepts models when requested. Just to be safe I would make the model then make a video of the model then if EN really likes it they can ask you to send it. Just my thoughts.

I do like the new look suits you. If you could make the spin behind your head you may be able to manipulate En into giving you multiple G8s. worth a try. Maybe make an animated gif.

Frank my own time is free i enjoy learning new skills getting feed back like that is great some people really think what they are looking at is a real product . I have a long way to go to master the program so many ways to create the same thing the art is building a model in the least amount of steps.
When I can model a real cool sports car I will be a very happy bunny

WIlliam, you’re right and that was what I was talking about….making a scaled down model just to have a picture to attach to my submission.

Been an interesting Weekend . I won my bet with Sharon with MG sales she owes me a tenner that is ten UK pounds but I will let her off as it’s good news. I also got a copy of an article that as been done on some of my products this will go into two magazines in the UK looking forward to picking one up from a builders merchants . I will get one sent to me but its nice to pick one of the counter. I also have MG Pro On the way to Australia and a Finland company taking interest in them too. The good news is UK looks like it really getting busy in the construction industry and a lot of MG sales are going to foreign workers. I like this because people talk and maybe they send pictures to friends back home this helps spread the word . I am also working on my Facebook company page I would love to have some of my EN friends, friend me or like my page . Not looking to make problems just trying to network and expose my products to people that could benefit from them. Looking at my dairy to day and thinking about my workload I am going to be flat out to Christmas.
I know its hard in the Us at the moment I hope 2015 is a real game changer and for all .

I did a quick call to the US company today and they have informed me that my product is being shipped out to 400 Home Depot stores across the west coast if I hearted right . To be available for purchase in November . This put a little smile on my face if anyone sees them in store I would love a picture. My US version MG is called Door Docker Plus. This would be an ideal Christmas present for the diy dad etc . On another positive note I have taken on a young apprentice and hope to pass down all my skills and give the guy a real chance to make a good life in the construction industry if he can do the job I will reward him well and my real payback is I can make him better than me.

You’re a busy, busy man, David! That young fella you’re taking under your wing is very lucky and I hope he appreciates all that you have to offer him. Best of luck to both of you.

Maybe since they won’t be available here until November, they decided to release them on the west coast first, since it is the beginning of winter here on the eastern coast. I know there is still inside construction going on, but it may be a seasonal thing at first. If it does well on the West coast, maybe the Home Depots on the East coast will pick up on them in the Spring.

Thanks for the input Kathleen I did not think about winter weather factor .Re my new apprentice I think he realises I have a lot to offer him I will do my bit to lead him to water he has started to show me he wants to learn so I will try and teach him at the pace that he can take it in and make it stick.
We have just finished a refit store in York that came out looking well looks like we have another store to create in London again .
