NEW Search! Great Star Tools is looking for new innovations in hand tools!

magurn's Avataren_staff_badge

Great Star is the largest hand tool manufacturer in Asia, manufacturing nearly every type of hand tool on the market.

The Great Star team is looking for ways to save their consumers time and effort by bringing them new and useful hand tools with improved functionality.

Great Star is looking for hand tool ideas that meet the following criteria:

  • Broad appeal: strong appeal to a wide arrange of audiences from DIY users to tradespeople like electricians or plumbers.
  • Durable: designed to make a tool stronger or last longer (resisting wear or breakage).
  • Lighter and ergonomic: designed to remove weight or make it more comfortable/less fatiguing to use.
  • Time-saving: designed to save the end user time on the job.
  • Multi-Functional: multiple functions be logically combined into one tool.
  • Easy and inexpensive to manufacture: able to be manufactured with the same quality at a lower price point. The "sweet spot" for hand tools is between $9.98 and $19.98.
  • Demographic: designed for users 35 years old and up.

Need to go over my notebooks and brainstorm ideas. They sell a huge line of tools, many opportunities.

Michelle, would this search include tools used in a hobby?  I would like to see some small hand tools currently on the market modified for a specific activity.

I didn't see anything on the website in that category, so I thought I would ask if they are open to something new.

Thank you!

How can I make a logical point for a combination screwdriver / grandfather clock?

I'm going to need a combination thinking cap / pondering hat...

Where is their market? Just Asia or we would find their products at Home Depot?

This will help me pinpoint a tool to re-imagine.

Thanks!

Hi guys!

Kim, based on their criteria, I would stick to more hand tools versus hobby/craft tools, unless they could be used for multiple functions.

Thom, you can find their tools worldwide, including Lowes, so it is a wide net!

Best of luck to all!

Hey, thanks for the vote of confidence Frank!

I was actually able to dust off the old sketch pad today and get things rolling..!

Hand tools are just another way of communicating with the man made (person made;) world all around us...a language I believe anyone can learn..!

Best to all!

Cool Michael.  It's about time you moved the needle off of that 998,000 number.  I've been watching with excitement and expectation to see when you hit that milestone.  Should be any time now.  Then you will join Marvin Blaine as the only other inventor to hit that lofty stratosphere.  Congrats man!!

The truth is, every one of those points were made by Edison Nation's faith in me..!

As far as a contract with a sponsor goes, all they can do is lead a horse to water... But turning that water into Kool-Aid is  still  the miracle on me to dial in...  However, I will say, that I feel fairly confident in where things are going!

So here's to all of us working to make that dream come true..!

Hey David,

This one goes well into the new year and I can only imagine what you might imagine between now and then..and there is always "sparks" to drop a thought or two!

I feel you have an advantage not only because it's your forte so to speak, but also because you live where things are done from an older and tried true heritage..!

Cheers!

I have a question.  On their website Great Star says they have tools for painters. What they have are general tools that could be used by a painter.  Are they interested in tools that are specifically for painters and that would be sold in the paint department?  If so, how interested are they.... a little or a lot?

Thanks

Hi Fred!

You are welcome to submit painters tools to the search. They are looking for tools that are DIY as well as specific to commercial professionals like plumbers and painters.

Never assume that, Thom.

You can't read tea leaves based on how long it takes EN to move your submission to the next level. What it all boils down to is do you get to G7 and from there it's all about how the sponsor feels.

Well Thom, at least you gave yourself a chance.  I still have not come up with anything for this search.  So I'll be doubling down this weekend trying to come up with at least one. Along with working on some stuff for the bubble search, it's going to be a busy weekend inventing.

Keep trying my friend.
