TWO New Searches! Dulcop America is looking for innovations for their Bubble World and Burst Bubble Brands!

magurn's Avataren_staff_badge

Dulcop America is the newly created US subsidiary of Dulcop International, S.p.A., the leading manufacturer of bubbles and bubble toys in Europe.

At Dulcop, they embrace the inner child in all of us. They know life can be stressful and that it's important to stop, smile and play. Their bubbles lift spirits, spread happiness and create a sense of wonder in children and adults alike.

Dulcop America is looking to expand their reach to the U.S. market and has challenged the Edison Nation Community to provide ideas for the following TWO searches:

For the Burst search, Dulcop is looking for bubble accessory ideas that meet the following criteria:

  • Unique
  • High Quality
  • Sleek, Sexy and Modern Designs
  • Demographic: Millennials
  • Price Point: $9.99-$49.99 (if a product is more technology-oriented, higher price points are acceptable)

For the Bubble World search, Dulcop is looking for bubble toy ideas that meet the following criteria:

  • Unique
  • Engaging
  • High Quality
  • Safe
  • Demographic: Children ages 3-8
  • Price Point: $4.99-$29.99 (if a product is more technology-oriented, higher price points are acceptable)

Are all of you artists or computer CAD programmers?  Able to make your own sketches or plans for your ideas?

Ok, so I have a cool idea, but it uses another product that is already made and adds something to it.  Would that even be worth submitting?

Does anyone have an answer for my question?  I really do have a cool product idea using an already existing product.

William:

There are all kinds of inventors here - from those who just write up their ideas or make quick "napkin sketches" to pro CAD designers and artists. Some make prototypes with junk and hot glue or dollar store stuff and others 3D print or make fully-engineered prototypes. I've done all of that, with some of my cardboard hack jobs doing better than my fancy 3D rendered and fully-engineered submissions.

I'm not sure on your other question but my guess is, yes, it could be worth submitting an "add-on" product as long as it is unique and potentially patentable.

Thanks for the answers.  I will however say, there is no way I would pay a patent attorney money to answer my question just to pay $20 to submit it in this type of fashion.  I understand your idea, but doesn't it seem like that would be a waste of money?  If anything, I'd just be better off paying the $20 just to be told they can't use it.  :D

Hi William!

We stand by the comments of Robert and Michael. Edison Nation does not require a patent search to review ideas. We do ask that you do your research on potential competitors and clearly outline in your Description why your idea is unique and, therefore, able to be patented.

Best of luck!

Got my New Year's off to a productive start by submitting an idea to this search.

Idea is over 5 years old, never thought I'd pursue it since I didn't think there would be an EN search it would fit in. You never know...

I'm at G 6... I hope saying this doesn't jinx this.

If it was to get picked, everything is 50/50... but does Edison Nation take out the cost of developing the final design, patenting it, and making a prototype out of the licensing?

Hi William!

Congratulations on you G6!

To answer your question, if your idea is licensed, the development work for the product would be Dulcop's responsibility, not Edison Nation's.

I'm having too much fun playing with bubbles and experimenting with 10+ ideas to settle down and actually construct a submission. I had better tell the kids that fun time is over (for now) and focus on reducing the best of these ideas to submissions!

AHHHH!   Time is running out on me!   I've had an idea for over a year that would be a match for this search...I can't find the sketches I started on it, so I have to start all over again.  I think we were told that we can still submit our idea before the deadline and add the pictures at a later date when we have them ready...is that right?

That is correct Kathleen.  Just describe it as best you can now, and add the sketches later.  Just don't wait too long to add them.  I'd shoot to adding the sketches no later than G3, to give yourself the best chance to pass the difficult G4 hurdle.

Hey guys!

Kathleen, to add to Derrick's comment, you are welcome to submit as a "placeholder", but please indicate that there is more coming within the submission and be sure to update and include within 24-48 business hours of submitting.

Best of luck!

Getting towards CRUNCH time! I am on the verge of sending my first one in, with a detailed write up & a 3 pg PDF, so first of all I'm assuming PDFs are ok? I can send them as 3 separate JPGs if necessary. This PDF should be fine for anyone to open & read, but I can change out if necessary.

Also, I just want to make sure I understand the deadline time. 11:59pm Pacific time, so that would be 1:59am 1/17 for me in the Midwest, correct? I won't cut it that close lol, just want to make sure I understand the deadline time. I will be adding one more later this evening hopefully.

My first submissions to EN, pretty exciting.. Good Luck everyone!

Thanks Derrick, I appreciate that. I've been lurking for years, signed up for the forum in 2010, but finally became an insider last month. Had NO plans to submit to the bubble search, couldn't imagine I'd have something for it, but then reading about other people getting inspired & having fun with it in the forum announcement, it just triggered some inspiration.. Funny how that happens ;-)

Anyways, glad to be here & I look forward to the many inspiring searches to come.

Wow, Kathleen. I thought my 5 year old idea was old (Just entered second, new one for the Duclop Burst brand). I've entered 1/2 done ideas in other searches before but follow Michelle's advice, get the updates/drawings in within 1-2 days. You never know when they will review your idea.

Good fortunes.

Thank you Kim! I agree with you, hopefully what I included in the written description is acceptable. It's my first (two) submissions, so I'll get more refined in the future, especially after I get to see their review notes. The professional reviews alone are frankly worth the cost of membership by a LONG shot. Very valuable.

Anyways, I have an arts background so the attachments tell the real story for my submissions. Hopefully they agree ;-)

Hey guys!

Thank you for all your great submissions! An IMPORTANT NOTE... if you have put an idea in that is incomplete because you wanted to make it in before the deadline, that is fine, but know that it needs to be completed in 48 hours - by close of business on Thursday. If it is not, the evaluation team will review based on the information included.

Thank you and best of luck!

I'm in - submitted the last one at 2:53 AM my time!

I think I figured out what my deal is with the last-minute submissions - I thought it was procrastination - needing the pressure of a deadline. But I think it's really that I have too much fun playing and experimenting with ideas and it takes the deadline to get me to "freeze" the ideas into submissions.

That said, I haven't quite lost my excuse to play with bubbles. When my wife asks: "why are you and the kids playing with bubbles instead of ____" - I'll say "I need to polish and perfect my submissions".

Robert, the same thing has been going on at my house.  I have purchased more bubbles and bubble products over that past month than I have in a lifetime. :)  That was a fun search.

The opportunities for innovation and creativity that EN offers us as inventors is most certainly wide-ranging.  It goes from NASA to bubbles (Dulcop), to curtains (Ellery), to toys (Radio Flyer, ToyQuest, Merchsource, ToysRus), to guitar cases (Fender), to dishware (Pryrex, Corelle) to tools (Great Star, Irwin, Worx, Swiss+Tech, Pony Tools, Greenworks, Skil), to housewares (HSN), to health products (Life's Abundance, Health Enterprises, Apothecary) to pet products (Pet 360, Petsmart), to utility carts (Rio Brands) to sports wear (Rawlings), to air fresheners (Handstands), to tweezers (Tweezerman), to toothpaste dispensers (Colgate), to Gingerbread houses (Brand Castle), to candy (Boston America)..... I could go on and on.  This doesn't even include all of the anonymous searches from the past, and the ASOTV, and Open Searches (formerly known as Lunch Hour Searches).

No single job in the world offers that kind of range of creativity.
