Hurricane Approaching

Prayers for all that are in the path of the upcoming Hurricane Irma. Please play it safe and keep your wits about you. I've been through a couple and it is a taxing time for all affected.

Mark it looks like so far according to the latest predictions you are the safer side of Florida. There will be many Floridians on pins and needles waiting to see which way Irma goes. If I were on the eastern side of Florida I'd be somewhere else by now. Thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are going to be effected that they might heed the warnings and those without the means to get out of harms way they might find the help needed. It's a very ominous looking hurricane.

It's seems strange that we had the winds and rains of biblical proportions with hurricane Harvey in Houston a couple weeks ago along with the many destructive fires going on out west now.... not to mention the other two Atlantic hurricanes behind Irma. Very strange coincidences it would seem!!

Irma is a scary looking storm!  Houston just mainly got rain... days of it.  Winds were minimal, as Harvey was just a tropical storm by the time it got to us.  Very few people even lost power, which is remarkable. The flooding has about done us in, though.  Harvey was a Cat 4 when it hit the Corpus Christi area, and they were really devastated down there.

I pray that those of you in Irma's path stay safe and have all your supplies needed for the duration.  Check in and let us know you're ok.   :)

It's headed to GA, SC, NC, AL....the path is unpredictable and has shifted west from where they originally expected it. I'm near Charlotte and read to expect a lot of trees going down and power outages- not a cat 5 but maybe 1 (?) on Monday. Yesterday the water shelves at the store were already empty.

Massive Fires in the west. Worldwide devastating floods. Huge earthquake in Mexico. Unbearable heat in CA. It's hitting us all at once. And it's only going to get worse.

Too late to try to remedy climate change?

Mark I went through Katrina and we were without power for a week and I lived 3 hours northwest of where she made landfall in Waveland, MS. Irma looks very similar to Katrina! The storm surge is what caused most of the damage. I pray for everyone in Florida when she makes landfall and all in her path as she makes her way up through the States. Be safe.

The last one I went through Hurricane Wilma, 12 years ago, Brought this storm surge after the storm. The water here used to be our parking lot and rose to 5.5ft deep.

I live in central AL. Our local weather man just updated a slight shift to the west for hurricaine Irma. Any major shift to the west will be catastrophic, as most in the path were,nt preparing for a hurricaine landfall. This is a very bad storm that will affect millions.Prayers for everyone in the path of this storm.

Good grief Michael, thats a lot of water! I know the Gulf Coast was total destruction due to the storm surge. She looks to be headed right up your way too. Please be safe, sending prayers.

Seems we have had many bad ones for as long as we have kept record and it only gets worse with added populations and infrastructure...hard to believe that it has already been over a hundred years since the Galveston storm.

Prayers to all affected!

Sending thoughts and prayers to all that are affected! Stay safe and let us know you're okay when you can!

For the Charlotte area, the storm is heading west of us - they are still predicting some rain and winds here. A lot of Florida refugees here.

We'll keep everyone up to date as we can if there are any outtages, etc.

Again, stay safe everyone!

Hello to all, glad to hear that many are okay and look forward to updates from our friends in Florida.

In Charlotte, we are expecting some rain and winds this evening, but nothing (fingers crossed) catastrophic.

Continued thoughts for all.

I don't know where John and Chappy are, but they may not have power or internet available.  Hope they check in soon.

John was staying with a friend, reported on the 11th that he had very little damage and did not lose power..though his water seemed to be going off and on.  I did hear on the news where some locations had water turned on for about two hours the shut off again and back on...maybe that explains this issue.

We've had sporadic power issues all over - particularly with traffic lights, which has caused gridlock.  A big chunk of the west side of town has had to conserve water because some of the treatment plants were flooded.  Pretty yucky smell in certain areas!  Overall, getting better everyday.  Betsy said neither she nor Greg Bruce had any issues, but the next street over from her flooded.

Thanks for the updates on our EN Family members. I don't know where everyone is located, so it's good to have updates on the ones in those areas.
