I was driving down the road thinking about all the posts I have read on here in the past few weeks. I think I have covered about the last 6 months worth of topics back to front. It wasn’t very easy, but it’s what yall told me I needed to do, so that’s what I did.

What I found was there are some really smart people, and some who have been doing this a long time. I also found that yall fight A LOT! I mean, wow – when you read it like I did, all at once like that; it just jumps off the page at ya. And it’s almost always over who knows what, or who’s done what.

What I was thinking was maybe the people who own the forum could come up with some kinda way to put a tag under the names of the people who are considered ”professionals”. I don’t know what you use to say yes or no someone is a professional in this business, but I do know all the ones that gave the best advice over the last 6 months worth of threads have left. Read this thing start to finish like I did and you see that clear as day.

I was just thinking it could work, but yall know better than me if it would or not

Wow. I was suspicious from a couple posts, but hopeful I was just being really paranoid. I was thinking that Mark Reyland didn’t actually leave, just returned as Johnny Gee. Certainly didn’t want to believe it, but I thought that if it was Mark, he would put up a post soon that reflected well on Mark….and this post is even more obvious than I expected. It picks up right where Mark left off in trying to separate the “professionals” and others, especially in the way he trashed others that he deemed NOT professional.

Welcome back, Mark, although now I’m thinking you never really left at all. When I wrote recently to remind people that they might not always be who they seem……this is not what I had in mind.

Very good point, Johnny, I concur. These forums need expert moderators and administrators who have the time to read all posts and delete flaming posts and warn against insulting and unacceptable remarks. We are here for a common reason and goal, let’s not fight nor argue. You can disagree without flaming.

I don’t know about all that, but I did read it for myself that most of the fights start from people who don’t actually have much to say about inventing.

It’s not an attack, Johnny/Mark. I simply don’t believe you are who you say you are. I think people need to know if you’re not legit, and I think people with agendas are not good for this forum if they’re not honest about it.

Johnny, I dont think labeling people an expert would be a good idea, for one what criteria do you use to define expert for the purpose of labeling. A person who never finished high school but has thirty years experience in marketing versus a person who has a masters and never worked in the field? how do you define that. This is a forum, where there is a collective of people of all walks with different experiences. You take the information you are given and check it out. I would advise anyone to take information from here and double check, not that you cannot trust people but it is always wise to verify, especially before anything costs money. to begin labeling people would take away the purpose of this forum. Inventing is a long and difficult process, and everyone has something to offer. To label one as expert and another as not would take away from the collective thought process as those who are novices may have something important to add but nobody would listen if they were labeled because no one would believe them.

That’s cool. Believe what you want, I’m just a Texas boy trying to invent something.

But Honesty, Honesty is a gun you better make sure you have loaded before you bring it out to shoot somebody.

So go back and check the agendas of some of your friends Mike. yall send lots of private emails on this forum offering to sell stuff, and “represent” things for us new folks who may not know any better. I’m sure I’m not the only one who got them.

Mark/Johnny/Chris,
This is going way to far. Creating characters for your entertainment or for any other agenda is really counterproductive to the entire premise of this forum.
Mark,
I understand your intent in creating these characters and it obviously is backfiring. Can we just get back to honesty. It is not helping anyone. If you want to continue the charade then you will have to start getting a lot more creative. It is really not professional and I know that you consider yourself a professional. I have proof that you are actually creating these characters and I don’t appreciate it.
Because of your actions it will devalue everyone here on the forum that does not have Gold status because we will have to somehow verify their story before we take them seriously. That is a shame.
I guess next time you want to create a character you will have to put up some money instead of just a name and an avatar.
And if you are interested in a new label for your avatar based on your performance on the forums, be careful what you ask for, you might not get the “professional” tag :)

Patrice has actually been helping me with my invention Mike, We’ve emailed quite a bit off line actually.

I see, you must know allot about the things you spout off about Mike, anyone who knows Dallas has heard of Greenville. – Greenville is about an hour East of Dallas, maybe you should look at a map.

For the record, I don’t have to defend myself to you, all I did was suggest something that I thought may keep the fighting down some, that’s all. But like your worldly knowledge of geography, your theory isn’t thought out very well either.

If I was Mark R, then getting any kind of tag on my picture wouldn’t really do any good because Mark R doesn’t post here any more. If I was Johnny comin back as Mark R I wouldn’t be able to claim enough experience to get a tag as Johnny, and I wouldn’t be able to give any professional advice as Johnny, so why would I do that?

Now, I know this is going to come as a HUGE shock to you, but Elvis is really dead, and JFK was shot with only one bullet. No, it’s true, just like I’m not Mark R and I seriously doubt that Chris dude is either.

If you look back into the archive, using the search button,it’s very impressive, and is a testimony to the intelligence of the people on the forum.

Greg,

No problem. I too have read many posts as far back as 6-7 months. There are only a few cases where I see the virtual brawls going on. Sure, there are also heated discussions, but they don’t attack the character of another. That is okay with me as long as it stays on topic. This forum has a strong foundation from what I see, so no worries on my end.

Ok folks, this is way too out of control. The people here who know me may feel I am controversial at times and I tend to call someone to the carpet when I question their view point(s). Let me qualify by saying that I was a gold member and will be when an LPS is provided that is of interest. I also try to provide, from my perspective, somewhat valuable knowledge when ever possible. The prospect of Mark perpetrating such charade is quite disheatening to me because I am getting very close sending him a prototype. I couldn’t imagine how I would feel if I disclosed my idea to him and later find out that he is IN ANY WAY dishonest. So, I desperately (like all of us I am sure) need to know what others here know about this.

Greg, you state: “I have proof that you are actually creating these characters…”

Greg, please reveal all you know on this point.

Thank you for helping me get to the bottom of this.

Good morning Jeff. First I want to say that personally I’ve always valued your posts…..some great insights have come from you.
You can read the “Newbies ansered (sic) here…” thread from about 3 days ago. There is an exchange between Patrice and Johnny where Patrice asks what’s going on b/c it appeared to her that “Johnny” made a comment on her blog, but it showed up as coming from Mark’s account. He tries to explain it away…but doesn’t do a very good job. If you take that nugget and look at “Johnny” a little differently, to me it’s very obvious. “Johnny” is just a different tack to try and show the same thing Mark was railing about before he “left”. I’ll let Greg speak his part.

I feel bad for being a part of this mess, but I just couldn’t sit by and watch this happen for exactly what you just wrote. I am doubly conflicted, however, because of the experience of Tania and others whom Mark really helped. I learned some things from him, but his actions on here raise a lot of questions.

Good morning Mike,

Thank you for your info. and insight. I did read the post between Patrice & “Johnny”. I suspected as much and further more “Johnny’s” language and word choice, sentence structure, etc… seems very comparable to Marks, but I view this as only speculation thus far until I have some solid facts. Solid facts I may not see, but I am willing to look into it a wee bit further.

Thanks again Mike! :)

I knew it! I knew it when he sent me emails as Johnny and I could tell by the way he phrased certain sentences. The one “come on, I know it made you smile” was one of Mark’s sayings and then it hit me like a ton of bricks! Then he posted on my blog as Mark and immediately afterward, made a comment as Johnny with his Texas accent but forgot to log out as Mark! So his sign on said Mark Reyland. So when I confornted him, he denied it and I thought, well what if he really is a real person and I’m doing this to him. So I gave him the benefit of the doubt. But there is NO doubt in my mind now that Johnny is Mark.

  • Mark exits EN and in comes Johnny!
  • Johnny Gee – come on now the name alone is pathetic
  • His invention is an adult toy?
  • When I asked him to stop posting on that hater thread he did it more
  • He would email me everyday asking about Mark so that I talked about him which I didn’t!
  • He would ask me for help but just say, I need HELP nothing specific in order to catch me in giving bad inventing advice???
  • Now he’s promoting Mark as Johnny.
  • He would never do a phone conference or talk to me on the phone.

But that’s an expert for ya. He had all us amatuers fooled didn’t he? Including me. Who has time to run around making up characters all day? Especially when you have businesses to run?

Hey, where is Johnny anyway? If he were real, surely he could prove that he was a real person right?

Instead of a label of professional on this forum what we really need is a label that says whether a person is posting as themselves or impersonating some one else. I find this whole situation to be very sad and I’m trying to figure out how we got to this place. You remember there was another person on this forum who would post frequently impersonating other people even God lol. Maybe that is where Mark got the idea that is is ok to do this, just a though. I liked Murray, he made me laugh more than once, but often times for me it was a meaningless distraction. I find this whole thread to be counterproductive. We need to get back to core reason this forum was established in the first place.

this is just too hilarious. did you know there was a baseball player named johnny gee? and again it is also as you said tom sad. It makes me wonder who else is posting as someone else. they need a way of verifying people to make sure they are legit, or as much as is possible. Makes one feel like an idiot trying to help someone who isn’t even real. I think EN should do things like telephone verification as some do so they call you to verify you in fact are you. This is really sad though when you don’t know who is real and who isn’t. My first thought is when there is no information at all under the profile

Johnny Gee was born on Tuesday, December 7, 1915, in Syracuse, New York. Gee was 23 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 17, 1939, with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Then in 2009 he joined EN.

Tom,

There is a diffence between what Paul did when he created Murray and what Mark did when he created Johnny. A HUGE didffernce. All of Paul’s characters were obviously not real. They were of Mike Myers and “GOD”. We all knew it was a joke and his intensions were to be funny. Outright and open.

Mark created Johnny for us to think he was a real inventor with a story to back it up. He ran around trying to hurt people and promoted himself as an expert. That’s not being honest at all.

Now we have to wonder who is real and who isn’t?

I thought that picture looked too “model” like, like a pro model posing. I even offered to help, thought if he needed though he would contact me, guess is a good thing I never got that far.
